Act like summer and walk like rain - Cancun, Mexico

Forever 21 straw hat, J.Crew sheer button up, Zara pants, Juicy Couture sandals, Banana Republic fringe suede bag

This was shot at the entryway to one of the restaurants on the beach at our resort in Cancun. I love resort wear, mostly because it means vacation but also for the carefree yet put together easy breezy look. Bought the mint linen button up in a large so it'd be loose and rolled up the sleeves for a casual feel. Wanted the outfit to have clean colors and add color pops with bright accessories, like bright yellow earrings and coral sandals. Really don't like Juicy Couture but couldn't walk away (no pun intended) from the awesome ankle-pompoms, moccasin-in-sandal-form, suede fringe combo.

Hey hey hey hey just walk away

Acne blazer, Zoa asymmetrical top, Under.Ligne by Doo.Ri jeggings, Givenchy boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs tote

My first time sporting a topknot in public, a style usually reserved for washing my face. Realized it doesn't really work for me because I have lots of baby hair that kind of flail around in the wind like algae in the waves of the Pacific. Anyway, got a couple new goodies recently, I liked the detail of the unfinished frayed edges of the light cotton blazer, perfect to throw on for spring, and the twisted zipper seams on the jeggings.

Adjusting to real life again after a week vacation in Cancun.. got home yesterday at 3am to 38-degree rainy weather, already miss the 70-degree breezy evenings and sleeping with the window open to the sound of crashing waves. Photos to come!

Happy birthday to my nails

Deborah Lippmann "Happy Birthday" nail polish

(If anyone got that Andy Samberg's "happy birthday to the ground" spin off I attempted on the title.. you're awesome. If not.. let's move right along..) The best nail polish ever! It's disco + glitter-on-my-eyes, stockings-ripped-all-up-the-side Ke$ha (I'm on that pop culture reference tip today) + my Ron Ron glitter Christian Louboutins in liquid form. Granted it takes 5+ coats to achieve this sparkly effect. Perfect nail polish for birthday week!

Now just have to be careful not to mess them up while packing for Cancun.. leaving tomorrow! Throwing a bunch of swimsuits and flowy dresses into a carry-on and calling it good.

The frozen days we set ablaze

Forever 21 double breasted blazer, Zoa sheer button up, ASOS silk fold-over pleated trousers, Hermès enamel bracelet, Pour La Victoire patent leather weave booties

Soft neutral palette, sheer material and silk just seem to make sense for spring when the sun is fading and cooling the day into a light breezy night. Also really into the fold-over detail after I got these Phillip Lim shorts, and when I'm into something I can't help but procure an excess of pieces so I end up with tons of the same idea in different styles. Great for the time being until I get sick of it and then it's good bye to 30% of my wardrobe.

Seattle Restaurant Week - desserts edition

Boyfriend made reservations everyday of Restaurant Week in Seattle. Keeper, knows that food is the way to my heart. ;) So far we've checked out Staple & Fancy Mercantile, Lecosho, Chez Shea, and Stumbling Goat. Thought I'd start off the weekend with a post on the desserts we had, hope you all have a sweet Friday!

Staple & Fancy Mercantile
The table light at Staple & Fancy Mercantile. On an unrelated note, been noticing a lot of these bulbs in bars and restaurants lately, and loving (if you can't tell by the slight excitement on my face) the retro vibe and dim lighting it gives.

Ricotta cheesecake with raspberry honey. Ricotta makes the texture fluffier and not as heavy.

Panna cotta with aged balsamic and amaretto cookie. Smooth and tangy, and amaretto is so good baked into a cookie.

Lecosho
Semolina cake with citrus and whipped cream. Was supposed to be with huckleberry puree but they ran out, but I thought the citrus was delicious with the cake, really light and spring-y.

Chez Shea
Pineapple basil sorbet. At first tasted straight up like pureed basil, but then the flavor blended with the pineapple and was refreshing.

Vanilla bean creme brulee. Boy let me break the caramelized sugar top because I like the cracking sound hehe.

Stumbling Goat
Carrot hazelnut brown butter cake cream cheese frosting with cinnamon and caramel.

Brown sugar panna cotta with rhubarb compote. Yummm been having very good luck with panna cotta this week.

Photojournal of Chicago, IL

Some photos from a weekend trip my boyfriend and I took to Chicago a couple weeks back that, long story short, could be summarized in one word: freezing. 20-degree spring? That's sad. (I guess I should stop griping about how there better be tons of May flowers this year considering how we're getting lots and lots of April showers in Seattle so far..) There were amazing aspects of the city like awesome restaurants and bars, and cool design and architecture, but I'll always remember being soo cold. Forget style, it's survival at this point, I wore my sleeping bag coat (pictured) and a massive snood that I'd pull over my entire face leaving just enough room for my eyes to peer over. Delayering upon entering a heated facility like a restaurant was quite an effort. Definitely wish I could transport some of the incredible food here though..

Take me some place far away

Lush sheer back button up cropped top, 3.1 Phillip Lim fold-over shorts, Topshop tights, Matiko nude cutout wedges

I like little details like the buttons on the back of the sheer top, nude colored waistband string on the Phillip Lim shorts that matches the shoes, and the lime lining inside of the wedges. More excitingly, it's almost shorts without tights weather...almost.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone who read, support, and follow this blog. :) It's humbling to see it grow. Some of you may have noticed I changed up the layout a few days ago, a fresh start for spring and also in celebration of breaking 100 followers. I've loved getting to know some of you better through interacting and comments. If you're not already, please follow on Bloglovin' or Google Friend Connect!

Marc Jacobs red patent leather jeweled bag

Marc Jacobs bag

You may have seen this beauty around the blog (like here and here), it's one of my favorite bags and I thought it deserved a little more spotlight. :) Oh how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.. the orange red patent leather makes any outfit pop, gorgeous gold hardware and gem embellishments, unique bungee cord design and braided handle hooked on carabiners, and the long shoulder strap for when I'm shopping or on the go so I can just throw it on. This bag is so untraditional and different from what Marc Jacobs usually makes, love it!
