Weekend uniform

Steven Alan reverse seam shirt
Wilfred wool oversized blazer (similar)
Zara riding pants (similar)
Rebecca Minkoff leopard loafers
CĂ©line sunglasses

I've been living in this Steven Alan men's shirt. My husband gave it to me because he got it tailored too small haha, but now it fits me in a cozy, slouchy way -- score! It's my simple weekend uniform: chambray shirt, black skinnies, and camel-colored accessories. Happy Friday!

Rachel by Rachel Roy dress c/o Macy's
Gap neon belt (similar)
Forever 21 earrings
Pierre Hardy heels (similar)

A perfect holiday outfit needs to have a few elements: sparkle, fun, and glamour. With the high neckline and busy design of the dress, I kept accessories simple but chose high-impact ones, like statement rhinestone earrings and a neon belt for some color. The dress actually has a sweater-like panel in the middle, which makes it ideal for a winter party. Obviously, you can't just wear this out in the cold, but even so, a holiday dress should be the appropriate material -- for right now, I'm loving the luxurious look of velvet, metallic jacquard, and sequins (so light fabrics like linen need to be shelved away for warmer days). Add some chunky heels, and you're ready to ring in the holiday season in style!

Arabica Lounge - Seattle, WA

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We started off post-Thanksgiving day with a stroll over to Arabica Lounge for Chemex-brewed coffee and a gooey chocolate walnut rosemary cookie made in-house. This is my idea of a good morning...

Arabica has an entire brunch menu featuring eggs. I love eggs! So this was exciting. Of course I had to order a Croque Madame.

Husband used to eat "Dunkin' Eggs" as a little kid -- his mom cut toast into strips and he dipped them into the soft-boiled egg. So out of nostalgia, he ordered Soldier Eggs. It even came with Green Army Men toys! Adorable detail.

Leopard spots and polka dots

J.Crew denim jacket and shirt
Free People corduroy pants
Rebecca Minkoff leopard loafers
H&M infinity scarf (similar)
Marc by Marc Jacobs shoulder bag

I usually classify jeweled-toned pants as something more fitting for spring, but these ones are a thick corduroy, which makes them appropriate for fall. Plus, they're all bright and happy...sort of makes a gray rainy day not as bad? Don't test the logic on that. Anyway, paired the pants with the perfect pair of leopard loafers that I got over the weekend.

Hey Pretty Thing on Instagram

Sorry for disappearing from the blog! Grad school, student teaching, and being newly married have taken up all of my time and energy. Plus, Seattle has reverted to its usual dark, rainy behavior so outfit shoots after work are a lot trickier. I'll be more consistent though! For now, here are some of my latest Instagram photos + commentary. You can follow Hey Pretty Thing on Instagram here.

1. An adorable way for guests find their seats at a wedding. I may have been a wedding crasher to get this photo..
2. Our fireplace is my favorite part of our home on a cold rainy day.
3. Outfit shoot on a beautiful fall street in our neighborhood.
4. Loving the wallpaper and decorative gold frames in this pub.
5. A collection of "Friday Funday treats" from the husband over the past month. He's so sweet!
6. The sun making a grand exit for the evening.

Our Wedding: Rehearsal dinner - Terra Plata

We were deciding for months where to have our wedding rehearsal dinner. The most important thing to us was that the food had to be spectacular. We also wanted a vibe that was elegant, yet casual, so guests could laugh and drink over good food and company without the stuffy atmosphere that sometimes "fancy" carries. We had eaten at Terra Plata before, but since our last visit, they had opened their rooftop for dining. Tamara Murphy, chef and author of Tender and also a James Beard award winner, grows the restaurant's own herbs on the roof. With a long communal table, a stunning view of downtown Seattle, and delicious locally-sourced food, Terra Plata was the perfect venue to have our rehearsal dinner.

We met with the manager and chef to customize the menu for the evening. When we arrived, it was cute to see that they had printed off a congratulatory message on the menus! (Also, if you noticed the date on the menu, yes, this post is about two months overdue.)

Husband and I love to travel, but our favorite city will always the one we call home. We loved that guests could dine with an unobstructed view of Seattle in the background.

They started us off with snacks paired with cava as guests were arriving. Everything was off to an amazingly delicious start.
1. House made potato chips with truffled sea salt and pecorino-chive cream.
2. Roasted grapes, olives, walnuts, and valdeon on crostini.
3. Blistered padron peppers with aioli and sea salt (unpictured).

Onto the appetizers!
1. Crispy calarmi in spanish red sauce with hot smoked paprika creme.
2. Honey-glazed carrots. This dish was a hit.. everyone was marveling at how sweet these carrots were.
3. Cucumber salad mixed with olive oil and peppers.

If the meal had ended now, I would have already been satisfied, but they continued on with the entrees and each of them continued to wow us. Such flavorfully seasoned pork belly, fish, and a Chantrelle mushroom risotto.

Lastly, dessert to wrap up an awesome meal. Thank you, Terra Plata!
1. Strawberry and rhubarb with panna cotta and balsamic.
2. Churro with chocolate and whip cream.

To check out what I wore for the rehearsal, here is the post: Wedding Rehearsal Dress.
