Commonwealth – San Francisco, CA

In continuation of Taste Thursdays, featuring one of my favorite restaurants we went to while in San Francisco: Commonwealth. I love tasty pretty food and this place was perfect.

I ordered this drink called the Gozer, which was a pomegranate and kaffir lime margarita. The coolest (ha no pun intended) thing about it was that it’s frozen by liquid nitrogen. Took me back to high school chem lab days!

Foie gras bon bons with brioche. Foie gras covered in chocolate, just the right bittersweetness to pair with the smooth subtly savory flavor of foie gras. So good with the lightly crisped brioche.

Asian pear, chicories, pomegranate, cured ham, idiazabal cheese, long pepper salad. Don’t know if I’ve ever had idiazabal cheese before but not sure how I lived so long without it, it’s gooey and rich, great complement to prosciutto and offset the fresh and light salad.

Kabocha pumpkin, black kale, yuba, sprouting broccoli, coconut milk, peanut. Gorgeous presentation.

Squid and pork belly, jidori egg salad, potato croutons, herb vinaigrette. The squid was cooked so tender.

Duck, the most amazing thing was the garlic mashed potato filled eggroll, it was so flavorful and fluffy.
