Our Wedding: DIY Picture Frame Chalkboard

We made our wedding save the dates, and a picture frame chalkboard was one of the components. It’s an easy project to make for writing reminders, notes, menus, etc. in a cute fashion.

I bought a frame from TJ Maxx for like $15, but you could get a nicer vintage one.
Sponge brush and chalkboard paint from a local crafts store. This frame chalkboard requires very little paint, so I have a lot left to use on future projects.
Paint a layer or two on, wait until it dries (about an hour), and paint another layer or two until fully covered.
Rub the chalk horizontally on the board and wipe away to take off that fresh chalkboard look, and then write away!

At one of my old internships, we painted a wall with chalkboard paint – it was also magnetized so we used it to post up inspiration photos and editorial ideas. It looks really great in a loft setting.

I love this idea, I tried it a few weeks ago and it turned out lovely. I used chalkboard spray paint instead, I haven't seen the little bottles before, I think I would have preferred that.
