Seven Salon: Mother’s Day (+ Personal Note)

In anticipation of Mother’s Day, SEVEN the Salon invited me to experience their MOMents of Beauty gift package, which includes a SEVEN gift card, gift certificate for a facial at skoah, and Seattle Chocolates.

I was able to bring a +1, but since my mom and sister live in Hong Kong, I invited my best friend, Rebecca, to come with me! Hunter at the SEVEN in Bellevue (she styled my hair in the Fall Hair Trends post) gave us the most incredible blowouts. More details below!

I showed Hunter a picture from Anh Co Tran’s Instagram, and she effortlessly transformed my limp locks into the perfectly tousled long bob I always knew my hair had the potential to be… (The secret: curl large sections of hair with a flat iron.)

I wish I woke up like this!

Rebecca has long, textured hair that sometimes has a mind of its own. It was amazing to see Hunter work her magic and create these gorgeously silky, luxuriously bouncy curls!

I’ve known Rebecca since we were 11, and she’s been my other half since. From the early years of awkward middle school hair (did anyone else wear butterfly clips!?) and AIM chats about crushes, to endless sleepovers throughout high school and college of no sleep but talking/laughing/crying until 7am, to growing up into women who love and support each other’s dreams and passions. I’m blessed to live life alongside Rebecca, and to be surrounded by so many strong women who have modeled love, sacrifice, and kindness to me.

What I really love about SEVEN’s MOMents of Beauty campaign is that the salon is working with YWCA’s GirlsFirst program, a year-long mentorship program that encourages leadership, instills confidence, and provides opportunities to girls of color. While love and confidence come from within, sometimes outward pampering can help boost that self-esteem. SEVEN will be hosting a tea party and evening of beauty for the girls and their mentors or moms on May 4. Also, for every hashtag #sevenMOMentsofbeauty used, SEVEN will donate a haircare product to the YWCA.

Though Mother’s Day is a month away, we have opportunities to appreciate the women in our lives everyday. ♥

Your blowdry looks so beautiful and I really, really like your striped long tee. It's a pity you couldn't take along your mum as she lives so far away, but nice that you were able to bring your friend along 🙂
