Transitioning the Black Maxi Dress to Fall

Today marks my last day of summer… As a teacher, I returned to work and am ready for the new school year! It’s as if Seattle knew, and right on cue, the weather changed from sunny 90-degrees to a gray drizzle. I love the sun, but honestly, Seattleites can’t handle heat well so I’m glad it’s cooling down — enough to transition to my fall wardrobe! I spent the last week putting most of my summer clothes into storage and filling my closet with cardigans and knits. I kept my maxi dresses, especially this classic black maxi, because they’re easy to layer under vests or cardigans for fall and pair with booties instead of sandals.

I shot these photos with Cassie Marino Photography, and I’m wearing jewelry from JES Design Studio‘s fall line. We had a full afternoon of shooting (more photos here), and this location was our last stop. I was so distracted by the incredible view! Look at that sunset… over the peaceful water… with the moon rising… Thank you for the beautiful farewell, summer.

Wow, are those beautiful pictures. Your modeling is on point my friend, and I must add, you are one lucky gal to live in Seattle. Indre lived up North in Bellingham once up on a time and loved it. Stunning post, can't wait to see more of you!

I envy you right now, I so wish I could pack away my Summer wardrobe! Black maxis are a staple year round though, and I love how you've styled and photographed this one. Gorgeous!

You really embody your blog name. Because all I can think when seeing these photos were 'heeeey pretty thing.' Haha!

It looks really cool how you transitioned your black maxi for the fall. I love your outfit, you just look so cozy in the knitted cardigan as well! <3
