I can get behind any trend that’s comfort-centric, which is why I’m a big fan of athleisure. (To be honest, I’m trying to figure out how to get away with wearing PJs to work… haha.) When I got these knit track pants as a gift from Margaret O’Leary, I got so excited because I knew I’d be able to dress them up and wear them out everywhere.
For Seattleites, Margaret O’Leary has a store in University Village and another opening soon in Bellevue!
Vince cashmere sweater (shop more knits), Margaret O’Leary knit track pants (shop more track pants),
Gucci Princetown loafer mules, Moorea Seal earrings (c/o), CÉLINE bag, Twinkle Lips “Glow Red” lip tint
Here is how I style sweatpants outside of the couch or gym context:
- Fit – To avoid looking sloppy, I like track pants that have a slightly tapered leg with a cropped cut. The exposed ankles can give an illusion of elongated legs, even if I’m wearing flats, and heels would take it to the next level.
- Accessories – Adding the right accessories can elevate the look, so throw on some gold earrings, a structured bag, and either loafer mules or sleek kitten heels. I also like to add a red lip for good measure!
- One Item Rule – I make sure to only wear the track pants and dress up everything else. If I wore a hoodie and sneakers, then it’d be more of the athleisure trend (even though I’d make an exception for a beanie).
