My New Project: ‘Sweet & Power’ – Asian American Female Web Series

I wanted to officially announce my latest project on my blog — for the past few months, I’ve been working tirelessly on… my new YouTube web series Sweet & Power!

Sweet & Power is a comedy-drama show about four Asian American women in their 20s who are best friends. The first season flashes back to their childhood stories and college hilarities, and also follows how they currently navigate the highs and lows of careers, relationships, sexuality, and cultural identity.

I wrote this web series because I’d love to watch a show like this on Netflix. Successful blockbuster movies like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians have more people talking about how “representation matters”, so I created the representation that I want to see in media.

To be honest, each episode costs nearly $2,000 to produce (and Season 1 has 5 episodes). I’m currently paying for it out of pocket, so we’re trying to raise $10,000 in order to fully pay for the videographer and production costs.
