The one clothing item I own the most is the versatile cardigan, but I have to admit that not all cardigans are created equal, and I personally never wear the snug, cropped kind that reminds me of prep school uniforms or easter outfits. Rather, my favorite style of cardigan is long and oversized, like this double-breasted shawl cardigan from J.Crew (currently on sale!). For a casual weekend look, I wore this cardigan with mom jeans and booties — it was the perfect “coat” for a warm winter day in LA. When you’re traveling, you could throw on a midi cardigan over a striped tee and black jeans. To dress up a long cardigan, pair a flowy midi dress under with kitten heel booties.
