So this past week, we made a lot of Korean and Japanese food to live out our trip at home! We also went on walks to see cherry blossoms around Seattle, which will do until we get to see them in Japan in the future.
For my birthday dinner, husband ordered sushi, sake, and Japanese cheesecake! Once at a sake bar, we learned about the etiquette of pouring sake until it overflowed into the masu. It’s a little act of celebration to enjoy the moment! We love that small but sweet ceremony and also interpret it as drinking to an abundance of life and love. I dressed up a little (and put on actual clothes for the first time in a month!), we played Otis Redding, The Righteous Brothers, and Sam Cooke as background music, and had a lovely date night in.
Even though life doesn’t always pan out the way we imagined, there is so much beauty and good around us, and we can still make the best of the situation. Nothing lasts forever, not even the bad times. Amidst all this, I’m even more thankful for this new year of life, to be alive, to evolve, to have happiness, laughter, love… what more is life really about at the end of the day.
