Last week was my birthday! Now that I’m vaccinated, it felt very different from my last year’s birthday in quarantine. Husband and I went to California the weekend before to explore the Redwood forests and hangout in Napa, which I’ll post about soon. For my birthday week at home, here’s what I did:
Birthday Dinner with Husband
On my actual birthday on Tuesday, the weather was in the 70s. Husband packed a JaM Cellars Sauvignon Blanc that we brought back from Napa, got us crab roll and lobster roll (along with clam chowder bowl, soft-shell crab, and salad) from THE MARKET, a coconut cream pie from Macrina Bakery, and we headed to bask by the water in the sun with our beach chairs.
Haircut and Balayage
Salon 8 in Bellevue Square invited me in for a haircut and color, and my hair was brought back to life with the äz Craft Luxury Haircare shampoo, mask, and conditioner! Tarek gave me a fresh cut and a honey balayage that is perfect for spring/summer. Thank you for giving me bouncy, shiny hair that I love again!
Facial and Blowout
Penelope and the Beauty Bar treated me to a customized European facial from Angelina and a blowout from Sue. The facial was brightening and hydrating, which was just what my skin needed after this long year. Since I was heading out for dinner, I requested voluminous curls and loved how it turned out! Thank you for pampering me during my birthday week!
Birthday Dinner with Friends
My best friends planned a surprise birthday celebration that started with a dinner feast at Westward! We had the seafood tower, dill dip, spicy clam dip, beet salad, chickpea fritters, braised short ribs, and clams. The star was this amazing BTS birthday cake that one of my friends had custom made!!! After, we had drinks with fries and carrot cake at Aerlume. So full but all soo good and so happy after a fun night with my best gals.
I struck gold with the most thoughtful friends. I got into watching the therapeutic The Great Pottery Throw Down during the pandemic and a friend got me a Sculpd kit to make my own pottery! Excited to try that and play the We’re Not Really Strangers card game. I also got really into breadmaking this past year, and friends got me an apron and a bread lame (scoring razor) that I can’t wait to use on my sourdough loaf tonight! They also had Levain Bakery cookies shipped from NYC mmm. My fellow ARMY bestie got me a Taehyung banner for when we can finally go to a BTS concert! We were supposed to go together last April but of course the concert had to be postponed. One day soon!
So grateful to have gotten through this last year with health and happiness because of the support of loved ones. It feels like there’s almost light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m looking forward to hope this next year!
