Kid-Friendly Day Trip Around Seattle to Bow and Edison, Washington

Did a fun day trip to Bow and Edison with our lil gal! We left on a Thursday morning around the time of her first nap, and the drive there took 1 hour 15 minutes from Seattle, so she slept the whole ride.

Farm to Market Bakery

Once we arrived, we went to Farm to Market Bakery in Bow for some coffee and pastries. Get their cinnamon roll! It was so good we bought another to have the next morning. They have an outdoor seating area, but the cafe was pretty empty when we arrived so we felt okay with dining indoors. I then breastfed baby girl in the car before our next stop.

We went to Slough Food for a little snack in their backyard by the river of sardines, cheeses, beer & rosé, and girlie nommed on a chunk of Breadfarm baguette from next door. You can see video of her enjoying that on my IG post hehe.

We explored the adorable town and shops while husband wore girlie and she napped in the baby carrier with the blackout cover over.

For lunch, we got a pizza and flight of beer at Terramar Brewstillery, and baby girl had her first taste of pizza crust haha. You can see video of her enjoying that on my IG post. They have a huge outdoor dining area, but the restaurant was really empty when we were there so we felt comfortable eating inside.

We then drove to Taylor Shellfish Farm nearby, and it was a vibe having oysters, geoduck crudo, beer & rosé beachside while baby had her bottle. We packed our YETI cooler with a thermos of hot water to warm her bottle, and we bought some food and oysters so we were able to store that in the cooler on the way home.

We didn’t go this time, but Tweets Cafe, Mariposa Taqueria, and Bow Hill Blueberries are great spots to check out too. It’s also close enough to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley on the way back. We had also wanted to stop by some breweries in Mt. Vernon, but will do that next time! The drive back hit work traffic, but we took the carpool lane and were able to make it home in 1.5 hours, and thankfully girlie napped for most of that.

We packed our usual diaper bag of stuff, stroller, carrier, and the other items I mentioned in the post. The only other addition was that we used a diaper liner pad and these nylon diaper underwear, since she loves to blow out in the carseat and it was a long drive. She did blow out, but those items totally saved it!!
